The Equilib marathon saddle pad is body armor for your horse. At the heart of this pad is an ultra
dense closed cell Neoprene material that is the same quality material used
in human body armor. The Equilib marathon saddle pad is a revolutionary new
concept* -- It doesn't just "pad" the horse, it actually
distributes the load. There is an extra ultra dense (Under the point of the
shaft. The result is that point loads, like the shaft tips that could poke
the horse are spread across a much larger area, and converted it non
damaging distributed loads, that lets the horse lean into the shaft without
pain.
Have you ever bent a shaft? It requires from 1500 to 3000 pounds of
pressure on the shaft tip to bend the typical marathon shaft. Imagine all
that pressure concentrated in this small area of the horses shoulder. The Equilib armor spreads this poking action of a shaft from a tiny 2 square
inch area to an area that is 40 square inches. So a 2000 pound per square
inch point
load becomes an 50 pound per square inch distributed load. The pad lets the horse lean on the
load, like you would lean against a wall, rather than get poked by it.
